The New York Times says tattoos are creeping above the collarbone in mainstream culture. Oooh. The placement of the tattoos on "normal" people might be kind of new, but I thought tattoos have been "regular" for a while. I forgot I had one until someone commented on it today in the office (it's a clover on my foot). Am I just so warped that I think tattoos are OK and they aren't, or are they really more acceptable in the work place?
Growing up, I feel like all of my friends got small, meaningless tattoos. But I forgot that people in the generation ahead of us still see it as a little rebellious. Thus why stodgy old newspapers keep doing "trend stories" about "new mainstream art" like tattoos...
(Or maybe I am rebellious and I lost my frame of reference?)
